When you strip away all the non-essentials in life, all the busyness and time-wasting frivolous activities; you will either trust God or trust people. Trusting God requires responsibility, something that’s less and less popular and desirable in today's society. Trusting people doesn't have the same accountability because if they disappoint you, you can walk away and find someone else to put your trust in. You can't do that with God, He's irreplaceable. If you walk away from Him, you've sealed your eternal fate. But when you do trust in God, you gain a confidence that doesn't disintegrate when undesirable circumstances or hardships develop. Being connected to the Source of life gives you the ability to never stop producing fruit. And with that fruit comes eternal rewards with immediate significance.
This is what the Lord says:“Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.6 They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness,in an uninhabited salty land. 7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought.Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
Jeremiah 17:5-8
