Written over 700 years before Jesus walked on the earth (as a man), this passage tells us how God is our only Savior. We tend to forget God when we are satisfied. When we constantly get what we want, our pride takes over and God is replaced with self. When we allow ourselves to get too comfortable we forget God. How is this possible? How is this so easy to do? Why do we allow it to happen? If we need a Savior to rescue us from death (the punishment for sin), why do we take God’s Grace for granted? It’s like slapping the Hand that feeds you. Just doesn’t make sense. But now, knowing our nature opposes God, either aggressively or passively, we shouldn’t allow ourselves to even go there. If we do, we have no one to blame but ourselves.
4 “I have been the Lord your Godever since I brought you out of Egypt. You must acknowledge no God but Me,for there is no other savior.5 I took care of you in the wilderness,in that dry and thirsty land.6 But when you had eaten and were satisfied, you became proud and forgot Me.
Hosea 13:4-6
