It says it in the OT, it says it in the NT: repent and return to God. What does that say about God’s desires and His character? Nothing that agrees with the modern skeptic, for sure. Those that never read the OT, thinking it’s irrelevant, punish themselves by limiting their ability to see the heart of God and miss out on growing closer to Him. The Bible is where God reveals Himself to seekers. If you only read half of it, you’re missing out on ever truly knowing God. He reveals His heart to us throughout scripture. Why would we limit our ability to know Him by only giving it a 50% effort?
12 That is why the Lord says,“Turn to Me now, while there is time.Give Me your hearts.Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.13 Don’t tear your clothing in your grief,but tear your hearts instead.”Return to the Lord your God,for He is merciful and compassionate,slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.He is eager to relent and not punish.
