Rest is necessary. It’s time of reflection, recuperation, and refocus. When we burn the candle at both ends, we ultimately suffer and fail. When God created the world in which we live, when He finished, He rested. Then, later on, He declared the Sabbath, a day in which man was to do no work (rest) and dedicate it to honoring Him. Why do we do it? Because God tells us too. Sure it provides many benefits for us, like rejuvenation of the body, mind, and spirit; but more so it carries out the will of God and honors Him. He knows best, that’s why He declares once a week we rest and focus on Him. It benefits us greatly, allowing us to continue to carry out His work, mimicking His character.
So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. 2 On the seventh day God had finished His work of creation, so He rested from all His work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when He rested from all His work of creation.
