In America we have many laws that help protect and govern our nation based on the laws God gave the Jews in the book of Exodus. Many of them are very effective. Here are a few that if we’re still instituted here in America, the crime rate would definitely fall and the prison system wouldn’t be so full. The seducer must marry his victim. I know you probably think this is atrocious, but God was looking out for the woman in these cases. Normally that meant she would never have a wedding because she was defiled, no one would want her. She would live as a widow the rest of her life. Do you think it might deter the seducer knowing that you would be married to the one you violated? Thief’s must become slaves to the ones they robbed. Violators of the law were punished according to their crimes, i.e. eye for eye, tooth for tooth, wound for wound. No interest was to charged if you lend to those in need. If we, as a nation, lived by God’s standards I know crime and dishonesty wouldn’t be so prevalent. His standards take everything into consideration and provide justice, security, and fair punishment for our behavior.
23 But if there is further injury, the punishment must match the injury: a life for a life, 24 an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, a foot for a foot, 25 a burn for a burn, a wound for a wound, a bruise for a bruise.
Exodus 21:23-25
“A thief who is caught must pay in full for everything he stole. If he cannot pay, he must be sold as a slave to pay for his theft.
Exodus 22:3c
16 “If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged to anyone and has sex with her, he must pay the customary bride price and marry her. 17 But if her father refuses to let him marry her, the man must still pay him an amount equal to the bride price of a virgin.
Exodus 22:16-17
