In a day and age of “anything goes”, there’s a statement I heard long ago that has stuck with me ever since: “if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything”. Joshua here made a bold statement, and those who are faithful have carried on his conviction. Are you bold enough, and committed to God enough to make this same statement? Before you do, understand that if we don’t serve God, we will serve something else. It’s in our nature.
15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
