If you think the next iPhone or gadget, or college degree or job, or vacation or party is going to satisfy you, think again. It’ll only be temporary. Unless God is in the exact right place in your heart, nothing will ever completely satisfy you. God created us to be fully satisfied with Him only. Our desires for anything but God will never find the joy and contentment they seem to promise. Our purpose is the pursue God, asking Him to fulfill us with His presence. If you’re honest with yourself, you’ve experienced the short-lived satisfaction from all of life’s experiences. They are exactly that, short-lived. Without an eternal purpose, that which God gives, life is a journey of brief moments of satisfied feelings. God is the only One that can fill the void we create with our sinful nature. It’s like working on a puzzle, and not having the last few pieces to complete it. He’s the perfect fit to the puzzle of life. He completes us. Without Him, life is just that, a puzzle with missing pieces.
20 Just as Death and Destruction are never satisfied, so human desire is never satisfied.
Proverbs 27:20
