I think the greatest travesty in life is being nominal. I’m specifically referring to nominal Christians. We all fail at one time or another, but pretending to be something you’re not, only leads to your downfall. It sends a distorted and mixed message to those around, confusing them even more. Just think, a person who claims to love God, and yet hates his brother has done more to harm Christianity than help it. No wonder why Jesus had such a disdain for these people, who claim to know God, but only love themselves. If you are going to flat out reject God, do it, but don’t pretend to love Him if you don’t. It’s wrong and damaging to those who want to believe and follow. Our job as believers is to call those people out. Either “do your business, or get off the pot”, sitting there only leads to the the male version of asteroids. There is no place for nominal Christians.
15 Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted. 16 Such people claim they know God, but they deny Him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.
Titus 1:15-16
