Here’s a thought most people never have: if you worship anything other than God Himself, you turn your back on His mercies. If you place others in front of God, you forfeit the blessings God has for you. If you’re busy preoccupying yourself with false idols (money, fame, power, prestige, etc...) you miss out on the good God has for you. And quite often, your idolatry affects not only you, but all those around you.
8 Those who worship false gods turn their backs on all God’s mercies.9 But I will offer sacrifices to You with songs of praise, and I will fulfill all my vows. For my salvation comes from the Lord alone.”
Jonah 2:8-9
