When we take refuge in the Lord, is that a guarantee that adversity or pain won’t come our way? Absolutely not. It is however, a resting place; a time where we can gather our thoughts, and rejuvenate. It’s like a real-world timeout in the game of life, where we can catch our breath and refocus with a new play. Sometimes this refuge is like the calm of the eye of a hurricane. It gives us a reprieve, a moment to prepare for the second half of the storm. Knowing He loves us, and that His plan is for our best, enables us with the mindset to step back into the playing field with resolve. This resolve allows us to face the future, the uncertainty, knowing the outcome will be worth the suffering and hardship. Take refuge in the Lord, rejoice, and let His shield of love surround you, preserving your faith in Him.
11 But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread Your protection over them, that all who love Your name may be filled with joy.12 For You bless the godly, O Lord; You surround them with Your shield of love.
