Job Needed An Advocate…..

Even though Job knew God, God hadn’t revealed His plan to him. Job worshipped God from a distance, and thus didn’t know Jesus, for He hadn’t come yet. The most amazing thing (and there are many in the first nine chapters of this book), Job’s relationship with God allowed him to know that God was so much more than we could ever imagine. He knew in order to plead his case (the results from the work of the Devil) to God, he would need an Advocate, a Helper. This Advocate would stand in his place and act as a Go-Between. This Advocate was and is Jesus. How did Job know this? He simply knew God is Holy and we are not. We are sinners; all of us are weak, fragile, and insecure. Everything that is good comes from God. Job knew this, so his attitude reflected it, especially during his time of suffering. We all should adopt the attitude of humility. It’s the only right response we should have when it comes to reverence for God.

14 “So who am I, that I should try to answer God or even reason with Him?15 Even if I were right, I would have no defense. I could only plead for mercy. Job 9:14-15

32 “God is not a mortal like me, so I cannot argue with Him or take Him to trial.33 If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together.34 The mediator could make God stop beating me, and I would no longer live in terror of His punishment.35 Then I could speak to Him without fear, but I cannot do that in my own strength. Job 9:32-35
