Justice is important. It’s one of God’s greatest attributes. Doing what is right brings rewards that can’t be measured in tangible terms. It’s part of our DNA. Some people just have a little more in them than others. Every one wants justice when they’ve been wronged, but want nothing to do with it at other times. The key to justice is consistency. You either love it all the time, or you’re fickle, loving it only when you’ve been wronged. God is consistently just, and we need to strive to be consistently just as well, not just when it suits our fancy. When your consistently embracing it, it brings you joy, knowing you have justice on your side. You don’t have to spend time contriving stories or ways to defend yourself. When you’re terribly inconsistent, justice terrifies you, because you know there’s no rational argument that will justify your sinful behavior. Justice requires acceptance regardless if you want to or not. The key is consistency.
15 Justice is a joy to the godly, but it terrifies evildoers.
Proverbs 21:15
