What does it mean to know God? According to Jeremiah chapter 22, to know God means being just and right in our dealings. It means giving justice and helping the poor and needy. When you know God two things happen: you learn your place in this world, your purpose, and you put into action what you know to be true. What’s true is God is real now in our lives, it’s no longer a question. Since He is real, that makes us accountable to Him. The more we come to know God, the more we become like Him. Justice, mercy, grace, and love all become a part of who we are. Thus, God works on us from the inside. That’s how real change occurs. Unless it comes from the inside, we will never be consistent. We will never make a difference in the world, at least not an eternal difference. People judge us by our actions. So put your knowledge of God on display for all the world to see, it’s how God designed us. Actions speak louder than words; they are proof of our walk with Him. You can’t give what you don’t have.
But a beautiful cedar palace does not make a great king!Your father, Josiah, also had plenty to eat and drink. But he was just and right in all his dealings. That is why God blessed him.16 He gave justice and help to the poor and needy, and everything went well for him.Isn’t that what it means to know Me?”says the Lord.17 “But you! You have eyes only for greed and dishonesty! You murder the innocent, oppress the poor, and reign ruthlessly.
