These two verses in Proverbs chapter 8 pretty much summarize Romans chapter one, John 3:16-21, and pretty much summarizes the Bible in two short sentences. It’s self-explanatory. Those that know Jesus (wisdom) have “life”, and those that don’t know Him (wisdom) don’t have life. It’s that simple. The dividing factor is those that pursue God know where their significance and purpose come from. They know what to value in life (they have priorities). They know where true joy comes from. They pursue what’s right, and leave alone what they know are empty, vain pursuits. They know how to treat others, not necessarily always doing it, but they know. And most importantly, they have peace and know Who to go to when adversity comes. That’s life, true, real life. That’s what believers need to show others, and most of the time, use very few words in doing so. When someone else sees a true, committed, faithful follower of Jesus, they have a decision to make, “Do I want what they have? Or do I not want that”? The way you live your life is your testimony. When people ask, “what’s your secret?”, you respond with the gospel of Jesus, your Lord. That’s what it means to “have life”, rather than “love death”.
35 For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord. 36 But those who miss me injure themselves. All who hate me love death.”
Proverbs 8:35-36
