Regardless what anyone says, no matter how much time passes after someone lies or testifies falsely, lying will always have consequences. Bearing false witness, aka lying, will always bring turmoil to its abdicator. Either it be public humiliation, loss of a job, desertion of important people, there will be repercussions. Even when we don’t see any tangible evidence of the aftermath, there still looms enemies of the conscience. No peace, inability to sleep well, lack of meaningful relationships, and the list goes on. If you don’t believe it, ask yourself this question: why are liquor stores considered essential (not closing for COVID safety)? The reason most people abuse drugs and alcohol is to escape their reality. That reality involves lies and deceptions. I think I’ve made my point. Denying this truth only complicates things for the worst. If you want a peaceful night’s rest, make lying part of your past. Your conscience with thank you for doing so.
5 A false witness will not go unpunished, nor will a liar escape.
Proverbs 19:5
9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and a liar will be destroyed.
Proverbs 19:9
