It’s good to be reminded that our purpose is to please God, not people. I think this is a huge reality check when we find ourselves becoming worldly. If pleasing people disobeys God, you’re on the wrong side of your spiritual growth. Seeking human praise is the #1 sign that our priorities lie here on earth, not in Heaven. If we set our eyes on the prize, when human rejection comes our way because we side with God, it will be easier dealing with the turmoil because God grants a clear conscience to those that love and serve Him. Don’t allow yourself to forget Who it is you’re trying to please.
4 For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts. 5 Never once did we try to win you with flattery, as you well know. And God is our witness that we were not pretending to be your friends just to get your money! 6 As for human praise, we have never sought it from you or anyone else.
1 Thessalonians 2:4-6
