Anyone who doesn’t provide for his own family, and calls himself a believer, is a liar, a cheat, a phony, and is worse than unbelievers. Did you get that? Worse than unbelievers. Worse. What does that tell us? God takes our words and intentions seriously. What we say matters. Our attitudes of trying to make ourselves out to be better than what we truly are is hated by God. Living a Fakebook life is the worst thing we can do as believers. Anyone who says they love their family, and yet fails to meet their needs, is not a genuine believer. He has abandon his faith, and the love of God is not in him. The disintegration of the American family can be traced all the way back to our selfishness. The concept of selfishness and family cannot co-exist. Love us what makes a family. And selfishness (the opposite of love) is what destroys it. Taking care of our own family is the basic building blocks of responsibility. And it’s the first sign of love we learn as children. If we destroy the family, there is no America, no civilization. The family is the heart and soul of society. Now do you see why God’s attitude towards those that neglect their families is so intense?
8 But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.
1 Timothy 5:8
