The last two chapters of Hosea are full of judgement and destruction, but also full of wisdom and hope. One of the truths that stands out is the exclusivity of salvation. You hear people say that Christianity is an exclusive religion. It is, but it’s exclusively open to everyone, yet because of our pride it’s only those that repent and trust in Jesus that get to experience and receive salvation. There are no others gods, but Yahweh. What you think may be gods are really demons, trying to keep us from God. God’s ways are best, when we walk in them we flourish and thrive, but when we try to live through our own selfish ways, we stumble and fall. When it’s all said and done, salvation comes down to each individual finding and serving God. Christianity is exclusive, because there is only one God, one way to Him. It’s exclusive to all, but only to those who receive God’s grace. The exclusivity that the world complains about has to do with one’s pride. Heaven excludes those whose pride refuses to accept and honor God in the way He has designed it to be. Scripture makes this clear.
4 “I have been the Lord your God ever since I brought you out of Egypt. You must acknowledge no God but Me, for there is no other savior. 5 I took care of you in the wilderness, in that dry and thirsty land. 6 But when you had eaten and were satisfied, you became proud and forgot Me.
Hosea 13:4-6
3 Assyria cannot save us,nor can our warhorses. Never again will we say to the idols we have made, ‘You are our gods.’ No, in You alone do the orphans find mercy.”
Hosea 14:3
9 Let those who are wise understand these things. Let those with discernment listen carefully. The paths of the Lord are true and right, and righteous people live by walking in them. But in those paths sinners stumble and fall.
Hosea 14:9
