One of the hardest things to do as a Christian, is not to take things personally. When you are persecuted for your faith in God, you must remember, the resistance or retaliation is because of Him, not you. People have issues with God, because they don’t measure up. You are just the reminder of that. You are tangible, so you are the recipient of their wrath. It’s that simple. If you do and say what God prompts you to do and say, then your obedience will be met from others with one of three responses: repentance and contrition, apathy, or retaliation and persecution. None of which is your fault. It’s all on God’s shoulders. So the next time your witnessing or trying to help someone in need, and it’s received with vileness, remember it’s not you, it’s God they are attacking. This certainly helps me walk away knowing I’m doing His will. Opposition from others when it comes to the Gospel just shows you that you are Heaven-bound, and they are condemning themselves. This should be a new perspective you can take with you as you continue to serve our Lord.
6 So Moses and Aaron said to all the people of Israel, “By evening you will realize it was the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt. 7 In the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, because He has heard your complaints, which are against Him, not against us. What have we done that you should complain about us?” 8 Then Moses added, “The Lord will give you meat to eat in the evening and bread to satisfy you in the morning, for He has heard all your complaints against Him. What have we done? Yes, your complaints are against the Lord, not against us.”
