Why do we as Christians listen more to the world than we listen to God? Just because the world is tangible, right there, rubbing against us, doesn’t make its values more important. If God can speak the universe into existence, or dry up the sea by one command, or heal a servant just by speaking from miles away, don’t you think His words take precedence over the world’s agenda? The problem is we give into our feelings more than setting them aside, and going with what we know to be true. In order to see spiritually, the only way to hold God’s word above all else, we must be in it daily. We must be reading it, digesting it, and living it out. We must be pursuing God, longing for the intimacy that relationship brings. If we don’t, the world will seep in slowly, without our awareness, and turn us into nominal Christians. In order to share in the power of God’s word, we have to know the God Who is, not the god we want Him to be. Be honest with yourself; it’s the only way to experience God, and the power of His Word. He is the most worthy recipient of our trust.
2 Why was no one there when I came? Why didn’t anyone answer when I called? Is it because I have no power to rescue? No, that is not the reason! For I can speak to the sea and make it dry up!I can turn rivers into deserts covered with dying fish.3 I dress the skies in darkness, covering them with clothes of mourning.”
Isaiah 50:2-3
