We live in a world where feelings dictate actions and judgements are based on so many superficial factors. It’s so refreshing to know God doesn’t base His judgements on this same criteria. God bases His judgements on what’s in a man’s heart. He doesn’t judge based on appearances, or smoothness of speech. He doesn’t let the fluidity of our talk sway Him in His decision-making. Only when we are right with God are our hearts secure in His judgements. When our hearts aren’t right with Him, we live in constant opposition to Him, and lack the ability to judge accurately. When God grants us access to His Spirit, we see what He sees, and our judgements are based on His standard. Only then, can we see people’s true self revealed with spiritual insight that only comes from God. If you want to eliminate racism, hatred, and violence, start with your own heart, then you’ll be able to see clearly with unblinded spiritual eyes.
6 When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, “Surely this is the Lord’s anointed!”7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:6-7
