The visual of this analogy of a loin cloth is unpleasant when you literally think about it, but put into the right perspective it's really about being close to God. A loin cloth covers our most intimate parts, the ones any normal human being keeps covered. As Paul puts it in 1 Cor 12, “And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen”. It’s covered to protect our dignity, while protecting it physically as well. God wants us to cling to Him, to treat Him with great care. When we take care of our relationship with God, He will cover us, protecting our dignity. Rightfully so, what other response do we have for what He constantly provides for us? Don't you want to be God's pride and joy? Why do we take it for granted or rebel out of selfish pursuits?
11 As a loincloth clings to a man’s waist, so I created Judah and Israel to cling to Me, says the Lord. They were to be My people, My pride, My glory–an honor to My name. But they would not listen to Me.
Jeremiah 13:11
