Man's tendency to wander away from God has consequences, far beyond his imagination. We wander off, eventually finding ourselves with no restraint, then wonder why we are in such a mess. It's like hiking in the dark. When your flashlight goes out, you turn back, instead of continuing to move forward. You don't know what lies out in front of you that could harm or even send you to an early grave. Yet our pride spurs us forward, unaware and unconcerned with what lies ahead. When we do this with God, expect unpleasantries.
10 So this is what the Lord says to His people:“You love to wander far from Me and do not restrain yourselves. Therefore, I will no longer accept you as My people. Now I will remember all your wickedness and will punish you for your sins.”
Jeremiah 14:10
