Human beings have such a short term memory. How often do we forget how God works in our lives? How often do we forget answered prayer? How can we forget tragedy and calamity when it falls on people or even countries? Here in Ezekiel, God is warning the Israelites about His judgement. We, as believers, must not forget the judgements God placed on His people for their idolatry. We must never allow ourselves to get “too big for our britches”. The reason we forget is because we drift away from God. We allow things to come between us. We don’t write down answered prayer, or blessings and we soon forget. Some people even purposely tear down statues and change the names of schools, thinking it will make things better. But the reality is, if we forget the past, we guarantee ourselves to repeat it, due to ignorance and forgetfulness (it may take time, but it’s a guarantee to happen). Never forget, God is a righteous judge. He will always judge rightly by giving each according to what they deserve. Thank God for Jesus, for He took the punishment that I deserve. May I live my life in gratitude and never forget this.
15 You will become an object of mockery and taunting and horror. You will be a warning to all the nations around you. They will see what happens when the Lord punishes a nation in anger and rebukes it, says the Lord.
Ezekiel 5:15
