God is merciful, therefore we are to imitate Him. In this country the average per capital income far exceeds that of the rest of the world. That means 87% of Americans have more money than the rest of the world, and yet we strive for more and more, becoming hoarders instead of givers. What’s my point? What are we doing with all the wealth God has granted us with? More than likely, we are spending it on ourselves. Entertainment, material possessions, or frivolous things. How many people in America are homeless? Starving? Hopeless? Why aren’t we helping those that need help? If every single American gave a small portion of their income to help those in need, just imagine the impact it would have on the world? I once heard a lady tell a story about her visit to a third world country. Upon her return, she felt guilty for buying cheap leotards and dish towels from Walmart. She thought, how that money could go to helping those in the country in which she just returned from. Her pastor told her this, “God has given us (the world) every thing we need, it’s just a matter of redistributing it”. Just think, He has provided us with all we need, yet there is still poverty, starvation, murder and strife because people want to control it to have power and control over others. If we only put this proverb into action.... it all starts with being imitators of God (being merciful), and not worrying about tomorrow. He will provide, He already has.
27 Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed.
Proverbs 28:27
Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you.I will never abandon you.”
