This proverb wouldn’t last 5 minutes in America’s mainstream media. It’s one of God’s truths that is in direct opposition from the world. Due to its shallow and selfish focus, our society says, “don’t you dare criticize, that’s judging me and that’s wrong”. “If you don’t agree with me and my agenda, then you are a bigoted hater”. Funny how the word “tolerance” is thrown around today. Just goes to show us how different God’s ways are compared to the world’s ways. And until God opens our eyes through repentance and humility, we will continue to live in opposition to Him, seeing His ways as backwards, wrong, and intolerant, when in fact, they are as true and pure as Gold.
23 In the end, people appreciate honest criticism far more than flattery.
