Prejudice vs Discernment...

Prejudice vs discernment. Prejudice is forming an opinion about someone without giving them a chance to prove themselves (and acting on it). Discernment is forming an opinion about someone else, but giving them the opportunity to prove themselves. It’s that simple. Prejudice comes in two forms: for and against. You may treat someone better (for) because of their status; fame, money, or power (showing favor based on something you want from them). Or you show impartiality by condemning someone for what you “heard” about them (against). Discernment comes in the form of knowing how and when to allow people the timeframe to prove their true colors. Yes, you still use caution, and yes, it may be from a distance, but you extend grace to them and wait to see what kind of fruit they produce.

21 Showing partiality is never good, yet some will do wrong for a mere piece of bread. Proverbs 28:21
