Solomon expounds on the 5th commandment. Why it’s important to honor your parents? Your entire life is shaped by what your parents did or didn’t do. Whatever that may have been, your decision to honor them will determine the altitude in which you rise. It’s the first commandment with a promise. A glimpse of God’s grace in His redemptive plan in the OT.
8 My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. 9 What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck.
Proverbs 1:8-9
