Whenever you have a Divine encounter, a “God Moment”, write it down, document it. It’ll be a reminder, a motivation, or a soothing memory that God was, is, and will be there with you. When we get caught up in the rat-race, we tend to lose sight of the Heavenlies. We tend to forget. God knows this. That’s why He established all the sacred festivals, and rituals; to remind the people of His presence and great wonders He performed with them. Here, Jacob set a stone pillar to mark the spot/occasion where God spoke to him. Any time Jacob was in need of rescue, had a deep sense of gratitude, or any other type of emotion he tried to deal with, he would look back to this place as a reminder God is with Him. We need to do the same.
14 Jacob set up a stone pillar to mark the place where God had spoken to him. Then he poured wine over it as an offering to God and anointed the pillar with olive oil. 15 And Jacob named the place Bethel (which means “house of God”), because God had spoken to him there.
Genesis 35:14-15
