The reason we are not “making disciples”, is because we are not “being disciples” first. Maybe some have never been discipled to begin with. You can’t give what you don’t have. You can’t model what you don’t possess. Plug into God today. Ask Him to empower you with His Spirit. He will either disciple you Himself, or send the right people to help you in this process. In the mean time, discipline yourself in His Word daily. This discipline is part of the “discipling” process. Your effectiveness in showing others how to obey Jesus’ commands depends on your willingness and consistency in obeying these commands yourself. You can’t expect to be an effective teacher if you’re not “walking the walk” yourself.
Jesus came and told His disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.
