As I read through Leviticus a constant theme appears as God instructs Moses concerning many issues. God clearly tells Moses and the Israelites to not bring shame upon His Holy Name. God says He will display His Holiness among the people. Maybe, here today, in our society, we have brought shame on God’s Holy Name. Maybe that’s why our nation is so divided, and filled with violence, hatred, and shame. We, collectively as a nation, have not honored God, so He has allowed us to reap what we have sown. His display of Holiness has been taken away, to save His reputation with the rest of the world. And no one seems to bat an eye at this. Instead of repenting and making things right with God, collective America looks to the government for a “quick fix”. The government will never be able to fix what’s wrong with our standing with God. It all boils down to honoring God with our behavior, or living our lives without Him. In order to get right with Him it’s gonna cost us something. The government does not discipline like God does. The consequences of what it takes to make ourselves right with God can’t be replicated by our government. That’s what makes God Holy. Which path will you choose today?
31 “You must faithfully keep all My commands by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord. 32 Do not bring shame on My holy name, for I will display My holiness among the people of Israel. I am the Lord who makes you holy. 33 It was I who rescued you from the land of Egypt, that I might be your God. I am the Lord.”
Leviticus 22:31-33
