This substitution method here in Numbers isn’t an new concept. It isn’t an old one either. God’s plan to redeem mankind has been instituted from the beginning. This was only a type or shadow of the culmination of this substitutionary process. Not only were the animals substituted for our temporary forgiveness, but the Levites were substituted for the first born sons for all of Israel. This was a painted picture of what Jesus would do for all of those that believe God. It’s the zenith of the Christian faith. God has been showing generation after generation how He would rescue us from the justified penalty of our sin. Jesus is the ultimate Substitute necessary to redeem our souls. “Lord, give us eyes to see and ears to hear the continuous love You have for us. Let it it permeate our being and empower us to tell and show the world Your great plan of salvation through Jesus.”
