There’s something about nature that soothes the soul. Jesus, many times retreated to the wilderness to commune with the Father. Here the Psalmist wishes to fly away to the quiet of the wilderness. I can honestly say, I know exactly what he means by “quiet of the wilderness”. Nature has a way of stripping away all the distractions in life and allowing us to connect with our Maker. You should try it some time.
Oh, that I had wings like a dove; then I would fly away and rest! 7 I would fly far away to the quiet of the wilderness.
Psalms 55:6-7a
