Here’s something unbelievers don’t ever share with others: sinful behavior creates war in their heart. Lying, conniving, betraying, and breaking promises breeds discontentment and war in the heart. The way unbelievers deal with it is tenfold. This pursuit to “escape their reality” comes in many forms. Some ways bring “worldly success” and create a facade that covers over the turmoil that resides inside them. The pursuit of fame, money, power, sex, and all the other avenues only lead to desolate battlefields along the way. It’s not until we realize our true nature and God’s nature that we begin to make progress in finding peace. It’s Jesus that makes our peace treaty and ends the war in our hearts. When we come to Him with this burden, and only then, the war of our soul finally ends.
20 As for my companion, he betrayed his friends;he broke his promises.21 His words are as smooth as butter, but in his heart is war.His words are as soothing as lotion, but underneath are daggers! 22 Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you.He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. 23 But You, O God, will send the wicked down to the pit of destruction.Murderers and liars will die young, but I am trusting You to save me.
Psalms 55:20-23
