The reason I don’t watch much TV is because most of the time truth is missing in the medium. Occasionally, I’ll come across truth being projected in a show or comment, but it’s rare. The reason being, as found in this proverb, the heart of a fool has no wisdom to give. You can’t give what you don’t possess. We live in a world where everyone has an opinion. And they think their opinion matters; like it’s the law. If you don’t follow their hollow advice then something is wrong with you. We have come to think opinions and truth are linked. In reality, truth trumps anyone’s opinion, because it comes from God. His ways are above our ways, and His thoughts are above our thoughts (Isaiah 55). If Shakespeare could be alive today, I think his often quoted statement would be radiated through the living rooms of America when he watches 99.9% of all news and talk shows: “This life, which had been the tomb of his virtue and of his honour, is but a walking shadow; a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” And “A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.”
7 The lips of the wise give good advice;the heart of a fool has none to give.
