Here’s something to always keep in mind: God gives us everything. Nothing given to us came from anyone else but God. That means our possessions, money, children, homes, and relationships. Every single thing, including our next breath, comes from God. If we possess it, it’s because God has given it to us for a reason. It may be for our pleasure, or growth, or just to know we are loved by Him. Look at the blind man that Jesus healed (John chapter 9). The disciples asked, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents sins?” Jesus answered, “ it was not because of his sins or his parents. This happened so the power of God could be seen in him”. You see, God is sovereign, and in His sovereignty He gives us everything in order for us to carry out the tasks assigned to us. This man’s blindness was given so that the very moment he was healed, people would believe in Jesus (God), and come to Him. So the next time you wonder why you’ve been given something or something was taken away, remember it is God doing the giving, it serves a purpose. Corey Ten Boom once said, “you must learn to hold everything loosely . . . everything. Even your dear family. Why? Because the Father may wish to take one of them back to Himself, and when He does, it will hurt you if He must pry your fingers loose. Remember . . . hold everything loosely. . . everything." Enjoy your gifts from God today.... thank Him for everything He’s given you. Your heart will sing.
27 John replied, “No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven.
John 3:27
