The law of God confuses so many people. Some say we must keep the 10 Commandments in order to please God, while others say we don’t have to keep the law because we can’t, so we are not to try. The purpose of the Law is spelled out for us here in Romans chapter 3. The Law does not save us, it simply shows us we need a Savior. The purpose of the Law is to keep people from making excuses. And it shows the world it’s guilty before God. No wonder people don’t want it displayed in schools, they wouldn’t be able to make anymore excuses.
19 Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God. 20 For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.
