The Christian belief system is simple. We are sinners by birth (we prove it with our behavior). We cannot be made right with God By anything we do to earn it. We can’t keep the law. The only way to be made right with God (salvation) is by believing and trusting God, agreeing with His way. And that is putting our faith in Jesus. We are powerless to change, be reconciled, without God. Again it’s simple, yet so hard to let go of our selfishness.
31 But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded. 32 Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in Him. They stumbled over the great rock in their path.
Romans 9:31-32
