A good thing to remember every morning when you get up is to determine what kind of work you’re going to do that day. Is it going to be made of hay, straw, and stubble work, or gold, silver, and jewels? If you focus on worldly things your work will not withstand the fire that reveals true value. If you focus on eternal things (God’s word and people), your work will survive the fiery test. Soulish ministry entertains and reaches the emotions. While spiritual ministry glorifies Jesus and reaches our conscience. So before you get out of bed today (or tomorrow if you’re already out), decide which type of work you’re going to do, and create the resolve to not allow anyone or anything to stop you from bringing it to fruition.
12 Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials–gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. 13 But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. 14 If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. 15 But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.
1 Corinthians 3:12-15
