The difference between happiness and joy is happiness is temporary, and the joy is eternal. When you do the right thing and deal justly with others, the joy it brings never leaves. Sure, you may not “feel” joyful on the outside all the time, but deep down inside you know that someday you will reap the rewards of knowing what you do is right in God’s sight. That kind of joy lasts forever, and it’s gets you through the tough times. Knowing God, pursuing Him daily, brings a sense of purpose and security that no one can take away. And that joy, as Jesus said, “is complete”. True joy, beyond most human comprehension, is God’s nearness to us.
3 There is joy for those who deal justly with others and always do what is right. 4 Remember me, Lord, when You show favor to Your people; come near and rescue me.
Psalms 106:3-4
