What does it mean to stand in the gap for someone? It’s when you know someone has done wrong or is doing wrong and you go to God and plead for His mercy on their behalf. It’s a selfless act; one that God recognizes, and sometimes answers on your behalf, withholding judgement. Moses did this very thing for the Israelites when they made the golden calf in his absence. God answered his plea, but not all survived because of Moses’ intercession. Today, you know someone who needs intervention. They need your intercession. They are lost, confused, and without hope. Stand in the Gap for them. And trust God to be sovereign. Jesus did it for you, now follow His example, and do it for someone else.
19 The people made a calf at Mount Sinai;they bowed before an image made of gold.20 They traded their glorious Godfor a statue of a grass-eating bull.21 They forgot God, their savior, who had done such great things in Egypt–22 such wonderful things in the land of Ham,such awesome deeds at the Red Sea.23 So He declared He would destroy them. But Moses, His chosen one, stepped between the Lord and the people. He begged Him to turn from His anger and not destroy them.
Psalms 106:19-23
