One sign that you can recognize when a Christian is speaking, is his/her words will be edifying. Sometimes to some, they may seem harsh at first, but they are necessary to strip off the sludge of deception and confusion. Once done, it’s clear to see the detrimental effects the addressed behavior would have caused. A true believer always has the “best interest” in mind for the believer. And it will be edifying, even if it doesn’t appear to be at first.
8 I may seem to be boasting too much about the authority given to us by the Lord. But our authority builds you up; it doesn’t tear you down. So I will not be ashamed of using my authority.
2 Corinthians 10:8
