Think about all the money, time, and energy wasted in honoring fools. It happens in politics, businesses, organizations, and families. There are two of recent that still blow my mind when I think about them. A man is awarded the noble peace prize for being of a certain race (he did nothing, but was honored). And another man is honored for kneeling during our national anthem. He promoted change, but did not vote (clearly revealing his selfish, delirious motives). He gets acclaimed “most influential”, when he’s done nothing worthy of an award. It’s the world that honors fools. It’s like tying a stone to a slingshot, senseless, and totally defeating the purpose of the weapon. So the next time you read about either man, just think of that useless slingshot, and pray that the influence they have will either be diminished, or God will spur in their heart truth, so something good will come out of them. Honoring fools is a senseless, time and money wasting event. When you see it happening, thank God His Word rings true.
8 Honoring a fool is as foolish as tying a stone to a slingshot.
