I will bet you a dollar the percentage of passing the “praise test” is very, very low. How do I know? It’s simple. Praise feeds our ego, and it fattens up our pride. Those are the main two reasons people stay away from God. Because those two reasons keep us from God. If we don’t have a humble heart because we pursue God, Who humbles us, we will fail this test every time. The only way you can ever pass this test is with the help of God, empowering us with humility. Not many people possess this quality today, because humility is not seen as a virtue like the Bible tells us it is. Why would people pursue something that’s not popular with others, that won’t win friends? It’s seen as being weak. Being a believer opens our eyes to the truth of God, but the world still cannot see. Praise Him for the gift of spiritual 20/20 vision. How we respond to praise matters. It reveals the condition of our heart, and makes an impact on the effectiveness of our witness.
Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but a person is tested by being praised.
