Living differently than the world lives, honors God. To be more specific, living a godly life, points others toward God, which brings Him Glory. When people see you living a life like Jesus, they don’t have any legitimate reason to persecute, ridicule, or hate you. Your behavior gives them a glimpse of what a life with purpose looks like. A life of meaning, living God’s way, shows others that there’s more to life than a selfish pursuit. It helps paint a vivid picture of what their life could be. It shows them there’s so much more out there, and that they’ve settled for mediocre. Living God’s way, honors Him, and the by-product is giving hope to those who know in their hearts, “there’s got to be more”.
Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. 12 Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when He judges the world.
