The true evidence of an authentic believer is that he pursues God out of his desire to serve, not for what he can get out of it. Give this some thought today. Examine your own heart to see if this is true with you. If it isn’t, ask God to realign your priorities, making your number one priority to serve Him and others. If you already have this established in your heart, praise Him for giving you this wonderful mindset. No one has ever regretted serving God, when their attitude was to truly serve. Serving is never wasted, when God is the recipient of your service.
2 Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly–not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. 3 Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example. 4 And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.
1 Peter 5:2-4
