Do you serve God? Really serve Him, Him alone? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego certainly did. Their words seemed pretty stout in their reply to King Nebuchadnezzar. I’ve always felt their words are some of the strongest, most important words in all of Scripture. “But even if He doesn’t, we.....”. Their faith and their resolve was in one place, and no where else. They trusted God with the life He had given them. Their faith dictated everything they did, from what they ate to Who they did and didn’t worship. They trusted God even if they suffered and died (even a horrific death). Can you say this about your faith? Can I? What’s so different about them than us? I’m sure there are many more people not listed in the Bible and more people living in this world today, that have this kind of faith? Are you one of them? Do you display this boldness in securely serving God?
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. 18 But even if He doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”
