What does it mean to be “Luke warm”? Maybe complacency. Maybe being complacent with one’s sin. When we start to think we are okay, neither great nor bad, Satan gets a foothold. With that opening for his deceit and influence, one will slowly pull away from God. You won’t feel it, see it, taste it, or touch it, but it will slowly erode your faith in God. Complacent about one own sin, is not a place to be, for Jesus said, “you are neither hot or cold”, “so I will spit you out of my mouth”. It’s the same as salt that loses its flavor. It’s good for nothing, meant to be thrown out and trampled under foot. Being “Luke warm” is the worst place you can ever reach. Turn on the faucet of hot water, asking God to rekindle your spirit, then you will be able to continue the work, furthering the kingdom.
12 “I will search with lanterns in Jerusalem’s darkest corners to punish those who sit complacent in their sins. They think the Lord will do nothing to them, either good or bad.13 So their property will be plundered, their homes will be ransacked. They will build new homes but never live in them. They will plant vineyards but never drink wine from them.
