If you think you measure up to be a sincere, honest, follower of Christ maybe you should read Psalm 15. It’s a dose of humility mixed in with reality aimed right at our pride. This is what the Lord wants from us. And to be honest, I fall short even though I strive to be faithful in my walk. I know what it feels like to keep a promise until it hurts. But that doesn’t even compare to what Jesus has done for us. Sure I want to stand forever, don’t you? But it’s not until we come to the foot of the cross that this is even possible. And it’s only possible because of Jesus, not anything that we will ever do. We must never forget this.
1 Who may worship in Your sanctuary, Lord?Who may enter Your presence on Your holy hill?2 Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts.3 Those who refuse to gossipor harm their neighborsor speak evil of their friends.4 Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts.5 Those who lend money without charging interest, and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent.Such people will stand firm forever.
