Knowingly Or Ignorant Of Our Sin….

Like it or not, we are all guilty before God. Without repentance, we cannot be made right with God. Even if we don’t realize we have sinned, we are still guilty. Reading through Leviticus chapter 4, it very clear that our unawareness of sin doesn’t excuse us of our guilt, we are still guilty. I think about how the entire world longs for significance, peace, and acceptance, yet it doesn’t acknowledge its sin. It’s like they are unaware of it. Regardless, if we are unaware of our sin or not, we are still guilty. And it’s not going away. Without true repentance, and trusting in Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins, everyone will remain guilty before God. We all will stand before God and give an account of our lives. Some will be Heaven-bound, due to their willingness to repent and God’s Grace; and some will be Hell-bound, due to their unwillingness to acknowledge their sin. The bottom line to this is we are all guilty, knowingly or ignorant of our sin. The remedy is acknowledging our guilt with contrition. Sadly, we all, at times, believe we are the ones in control, until that day comes when our guilt rolls off our tongue and await the judgement of God. Don’t wait. Don’t put it off. Come before God and admit whatever it is you need to come clean with, even if you’re unsure. A repentant and contrite heart is our ally. Don’t abuse it, with the thought, “I’m not guilty, I’ve done nothing wrong”. You’re only deceiving yourself.

13 “If the entire Israelite community sins by violating one of the Lord’s commands, but the people don’t realize it, they are still guilty. Leviticus 4:13

22 “If one of Israel’s leaders sins by violating one of the commands of the Lord his God but doesn’t realize it, he is still guilty. Leviticus 4:22

27 “If any of the common people sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands, but they don’t realize it, they are still guilty. Leviticus 4:27

Through this process, the priest will purify the people from their sin, making them right with the Lord, and they will be forgiven. Leviticus 4:35c
